Sprinklers kick in and help save apartment building

Firefighters haul out a burned sofa from the Village apartments on School St.
n June 23rd, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire located in the 8900 block of School Street.
On arrival, fire crews reported seeing smoke and flame from the third floor apartment window of a 4-storey multi-tenant residential apartment.
Firefighters responded from Halls 1 and 4 with crews arriving on-scene within 5 minutes.
The fire was quickly brought under control with the aid of the building sprinkler system, minimizing fire damage to the tenantís unit. The tenant was home at the time of the fire.
There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.
The cause of the fire appears to be accidental but is under investigation by fire department officials.
