BC rocker Daniel Wesley backing Matthew Good Nov 24 at the Cultch
Submitted by Joanna Dine, Strut Ent.
C native Daniel Wesley joins Matthew Good on a 37 date, cross Canada tour this fall. Beginning in Bala, ON, on Sunday, October 9, the tour stops in Atlantic Canada, Southern Ontario, Manitoba, Sask., Alberta and British Columbia.
The tour will culminate with two homecoming shows in Vancouver at the Vogue Theatre on December 2 and 3. Earlier this year Wesley completed a successful three-province tour of Canada with KO and Rebel Emergency.
Wesley will be hitting the road in support of his fifth studio album, Easy Livin’ (released July via 604 Records/Universal Music). The first single, “Head Outta Water” continues to gain momentum at radio across Canada while the next single “Hello Britain” will be serviced to radio the week of September 12.
Wesley first broke out on the music scene when his song “Ooo Ohh” became the most requested song of 2007 at 99.3 The Fox in Vancouver. The infectious rock-reggae single from Sing and Dance in 2007, raised the bar of his career and found Wesley playing to sold-out crowds throughout western Canada and touring across Canada with The Trews, Ill Scarlett and Dirty Heads. Wesley went on to record his third album, Driftin, that same year.
His 2009 self-titled album, featuring the singles “It’ll Be You,” “Pilgrimage” and “Drunk & Stoned,” debuted on both the iTunes Top Selling Album Chart and Rock Charts. The album, his first for 604 Records, was produced by fellow musician/producer Dave Genn (54-40, Matthew Good Band) and was the first release where Wesley found himself vacating the producer’s chair.
The album earned him a nomination at the 2011 Verge Music Awards for Emerging Artist of the Year and was accompanied by several music videos including the popular “Drunk & Stoned,” which received substantial airplay on MuchMoreMusic.
What they're saying...
“Easy Livin’ is more complex, layered and balanced, working in chapters of anthemic alt-rock (Head Outta Water, Hello Britain), summer-ready reggae and dub (Dear Mary, Pirate Song), soul-driven stuff (Darlin) and even folk Vagrant’s Life, all streamlined within a solid pop radio format.”
“Easy Livin’ is an album worth listening to. Daniel Wesley has stepped outside of reggae and showed a new side to his endless musical talent.”
“Wesley has a knack for blending several genres into one creamy thick eclectic genre of his own, creating a unique blend of “easy livin” music.”
