vanna Ferris, manager of the SPCA Chilliwack Branch appeared on 98.3 StarFm Thursday and spoke about their main fundraiser of the year, Paws For A Cause, at the Fairfield Island sports field Sunday.
"I'm looking forward to being there with all the dogs," said Ferris. "We've got so much fun planned for Sunday.
Things kick-off at 11am with the registration and there will be plenty to do for both owners and their best friends. For those who believe that you can teach an old dog new tricks, agility demonstrations will be one of the activities that people can do with their dog to see if they have the natural ability to go through hoops and over hurdles.
"Because agility is such a fine activity to get involved in," explained Ferris, "but people don't always get an opportunity to try it out."
There'll be games and a contests and a Pooch Parade, sponsored by Oly's Pet Connection, which gives dog owners a chance to strut their stuff.
During the day, Oly's is offering a chance to win free dog food for a year. Entrants need to go into Oly's Pet Connection at 1-45844 Yale Rd. (next to Corky's Irish Pub) and fill out a ballot and be at the park during the event in order to win the prize.
It will be a great socializing time for owners and their pets even if you don't have a canine, that's fine says Ferris.
"I certainly hope that everybody will come, everyone is welcome."
The event is on from 11am-2pm at Fairfield Island Park. Take Young Rd. to Clare Ave, turn right and go straight until you see the park sign.
