Casting Call For Volunteers

Arts Centre looking for helping hands

he Chilliwack Cultural Centre is just days away from opening to the public and as final arrangements are made, the Centre is calling for volunteers to help.

“Volunteers: the key to success,” reads the training program, created by Theresia Reid, Booking Manager with the Chilliwack Arts & Cultural Centre Society.

Reid is looking forward to training community members who want to step up and be part of the support team for performances at The Centre. The first show requiring volunteers to lend a hand is the Chilliwack Community Arts Council’s Let’s Put on a Show featuring Mickey and Jan Rooney on September 11th.

A Chance To Be Part Of The Centre

Tasks include ushering patrons, serving at the concession, collecting tickets and coats, assisting in the administrative office, and promoting shows throughout the community. In exchange for working at The Centre, volunteers will occasionally be invited to performances, experiencing sensational shows for free! Identification badges are provided and shifts are 3 4 hours long.

“It gives community members an opportunity to broaden their own experience and understanding of a theatre,” comments Reid.

“Volunteering at the theatre is a great fun way to spend an evening or afternoon,” adds Chilliwack Cultural Centre Executive Director Michael Cade. “to be able to give to the community and have the chance to see amazing shows is a win-win situation”

For those interested in volunteering, please contact Theresia Reid by phone, at 604-392-8000, e-mail here or in person at the Centre Box Office where volunteer registration forms are available.
