The Reachable And The Teachable

Will a Chilliwack landowner step up and do something similar?

Submitted by Woodwynn Farms

oodwynn Farms is a 193-acre organic farm and therapeutic community that welcomes homeless individuals who want to change their lives: the reachable and teachable. These individuals become apprentices - Woodwynn hopes to eventually admit up to 96 people, which will translate to over 500 lives changed over the course of 10 years.

A unique campaign to Create HomeFulness is in full swing at Woodwynn Farms. The therapeutic community in Central Saanich is kicking off a "Help Create Homefulness for 99/Day" fundraising campaign with a goal of welcoming more homeless individuals into the therapeutic farm program.

"For just 99/day you can make a difference for an individual and for your community," founder and Executive Director Richard Leblanc urges. And to help kick-start the giving, an anonymous philanthropist has committed to match the first $80,000 (this offer will stand until Christmas Day).

"It is time for people to put hope into action," says Leblanc, "At Woodwynn we've got a solution, we are successfully taking people off the streets and giving them an opportunity to change their lives. We want the Greater Victoria community to be a part of that." Leblanc is calling on residents to think big and give big, and help Woodwynn get more people off the streets.

The good Samaritan providing the $80,000 in matching funds has been inspired by the encouraging results Woodwynn has demonstrated thus far on their journey towards creating homefulness.

"Visit our website,  click on the Donate Now button, and pledge to help create homefulness," says Leblanc.

Jumping off from their successful Global Work Party, when 350 fruit and nut trees were planted by over 250 volunteers in less than two hours, Woodwynn supporters are anxious to continue raising awareness about the farm, its connection to the greater community, and the potential it holds for creating change for homeless populations.
