City Hall Picks Up Appreciation Award
Fraser Valley Home Builders Association bestows honour on Chilliwack
City staffers Garret Schipper (L), Lisa Thompson and Coun. Chuck Stam show off award at council meeting Monday.
he City of Chilliwack picked up another award Nov. 4th at The Fraser Valley Home Builders Association banquet in Abbotsford.
Each year the association bestows the annual kudo called the City Appreciation Award that includes Harrison, Agassiz, Hope, Chilliwack, Mission and Abbotsford for participation of government level and the home building industry.
It was conceived to "recognize the cities within the Fraser Valley region that further the goals of the association through participation and communication with members," said Coun. Chuck Stam who was at the banquet to accept the award on behalf of the City.
"They awarded our staff with the City Appreciation Award for the input of our staff to their organization but also they allow their members to join our committee — the development advisory process committee as the Home Builders Council," Stam told the Voice. "It was a proud moment in front of the other municipalities."
City staff attend Building and Trade Industry monthly luncheons and work closely with the industry.
"We provide input from staff and involve them in some of our bylaw changes as well," said Lisa Thompson, Director of Development and Regulatory Enforcement Services Approving Officer.
Garrett Schipper, Manager of Technical Services for the City of Chilliwack is also part of the liaison team from the City.
