Over a century of women helping women become more educated, even at yard sales

One of the PEO ladies informs people about their group at a 2009 garage sale. This year it's Sunday, May 29.
is an educational, philanthropic organization for women. As a pioneer society,
it was founded in January 21, 1869 by seven young students who were attending
Iowa Weselyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Today, P.E.O. has grown from a tiny
membership to almost one quarter million members in the U.S.A. and Canada. The
Sisterhood offers monetary assistance to successful applicants by means of
grants, loans, awards and scholarships.
The PEO International Women's Organization will be having a Centennial Show at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Sunday, May 29th 2:00 p.m. The cost is $10.00
Third Annual P.E.O Chapter BC Garage Sale takes place Saturday, May 28th, starting at 8:00 a.m. at 8719 Pearson St. Chilliwack Purpose? To raise money for women who wish to pursue educational goals. There will be a variety of general merchandise, including books, toys, garden tools.
The B.C. Chapters are celebrating 100 Years of P.E.O in Canada with B.C. being the first province to form a Chapter. The Centennial Celebration on Sunday will feature a brief historical program, complete with music from "The Trebles" a group of P.E.O's. Refreshments will be served. Tickets are available at the Box Office on Corbould Ave.
