ICBC and Chilliwack RCMP extend free steering wheel lock offer to June 15

Released by the Insurance Corporation of BC

ast month ICBC, Chilliwack RCMP and crime prevention volunteers introduced the award-winning Operation Lock Up program to help curb the theft of older vehicles in Chilliwack.

Older model vehicles often arenít equipped with anti-theft devices, making them prime bait

To obtain a free steering wheel lock, residents should bring their vehicle registration to Chilliwack Community Policing Services, 45877 Wellington Avenue.

Operation Lock Up is part of ICBCís overall auto crime strategy, which has contributed to a 65 per cent decrease in auto crime in B.C. since 2003. Just last year, Surrey Board of Trade awarded ICBC with the Police and Business Partnership Award for last yearís Operation Lock Up initiative in Surrey and White Rock.
