Champions Are Made, Not Born

Excitement building with start of Grizzlies season

Released by Laurie Smith, Head Coach

e are very excited to be starting the first high school football program in Chilliwack for over 30 years and very enthusiastic about the group of players we have already worked with in the combine and conditioning sessions. For those of you recently admitted into the school, we have already held a player combine (this past Saturday) and three conditioning sessions with Mr. Larsen.

We will continue conditioning after spring break (Wednesday March 28 at 7am in the gym) and no-gear practices start the same day (Wednesday March 28) at 3:30 in the afternoon on the field. If you (or your child) have been recently admitted, you need to have the consent form signed by your current principal to participate in Graham Football this spring.

Social Media
There is a great deal of information about our program and coaching staff on the website www.grahamfootball.ca. You will also find a calendar of important dates and our league schedule on the website. An additional source of information (outside of my numerous emails) is the Twitter feed @grahamfootball we keep updating both the Facebook page and Twitter feed on a daily basis.

Dinner Fundraiser

The team is having their first fundraiser dinner Saturday night at the Rendevous Restaurant in Chilliwack at 5:30. The tickets are $20 each and include a souvlaki dinner with Greek salad and roast potatoes and rice. $10 of each ticket sold goes back to the team. There are still tickets remaining for the 5:30 seating, contact the coach here for tickets. Also Rick Klassen, former BC Lion all time great and Chilliwack grad, will be there. There is also a silent auction with lots of great items.

In rough terms here are some important dates coming up:

Conditioning: 3 days per week starting again after spring break
Spring Camp: May 21-June 1 (Jamboree at Langley Secondary June 1)
Team Camp: July 6-11 (Camp Rilea in Oregon just south of Astoria cost $150 per player)
Fall Camp: August 20-24 (Team camp at GW Graham full days)
First game: September 1 at Colton, Oregon

Between August 27 and probably November the team will be meeting every morning at 7am for either positional meetings, film or conditioning. Also we will have a mandatory study hall every day (except game days) between dismissal and the start of practice. Practice will run 3:30-5:30 every day (except game day).

Games are normally played on Wednesdays. Please check the website for the schedule. Although the daily schedule is more intense than other school sports or community football, the players will have evenings and weekends free and our expectation is that they will get most of their school work done in study hall.

Registration will be $250 per player once we have announced a roster at the end of spring camp.
