getting your hands dirty? Got green thumbs? This is a chance for
local gardening enthusiasts and first time gardeners alike to come
together and enhance their vegetable growing skills and soil health
knowledge. Local gardening enthusiasts and first time gardeners

It is also a chance to share and trade seeds for the 2012 growing
season and as a community, participate in PAR GAR 2012 for our local
Salvation Army Food Bank/Soup Kitchen.
When: Saturday, April 28th, 2012 from 12:30pm - 4:30pm (Rain
Who: Every interested person in Chilliwack is welcome.
Where: Chilliwack Society for Community Living Community
Gardens, behind the Mathieson Centre at 45195 Wells Road,
This event includes 3 gardening workshops - join us for what you are
1pm “How to turn a
patch of grass into a thriving garden plot” with Food Matters
2pm join Chilliwack
Schools Gardening Program participants as we learn from award
winning local seasoned gardener, Jack Kouwenhoven, on “Amending
the soil for planting your school garden & the best methods for
3pm learn from local
gardening expert, Brian Minter, "The secrets for success with
the most popular and sometimes challenging crops, such as
potatoes, other root crops, brassicas, tomatoes and peppers, as
well as the best methods of organic pest management".
Arrive on time! The first
100 gardening enthusiasts to register that day will receive a
complimentary garden starter seed kit - with seeds for use with PAR
GAR 2012 and some just for fun!
Cost for this event is by
donation - all proceeds will go to Food Matters Chilliwack to
support existing and upcoming programs and events. No
preregistration is necessary
