Buying fresh and local: Farmers Market open Saturdays from June 22

he Chilliwack Farmers Market will be celebrating its 5th anniversary with a weekly summer tradition of providing steady and dependable access to locally grown vegetables, fruits, meats, jams, breads, berries and so much more.
Every Saturday now for five years the farmers, bakers and artisans have been regularly meeting up in the front parking lot of Minter Country Garden Store at #10015 Young Road, north Chilliwack.
Each week, rain or shine, these dedicated entrepreneurs bring local town folk the best cooked, baked and picked items in the Valley within days of the market .
"I know some of our farmers pick their produce early in the morning just before selling to the public at the Chilliwack Farmers Market and even top up their produce through the day straight from the local farm fields." explains Market manger Geoffrey Dalman. "It is always best to speak directly to the farmers and bakers yourself at the market, they are always happy to explain their farming traditions and techniques."
Last year, the Chilliwack Farmers Market created a non-profit foundation to help organise and plan future growth. With the help of local volunteers and farmers, the future looks good for the town's little farmer's market with big plans. The Chilliwack Farmers Market Foundation hopes to increase its size and planning capacity to serve the public and community at large.
"Come grow with us and tell two friends," says Dalman.
The Chilliwack Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. throughout the summer until the weekend prior to Thanksgiving in October.
