Star FM plans a corny Party in the Park opening night July 6
Released by Teresa Laynes, 98.3 Star FM Chilliwack
tar 98.3 is celebrating its 85th birthday this year, and to mark the occasion, we will be attempting to set the Guinness World Record for the largest number of people
“We’ve been in the community for 85 years”, says morning show host Scott Riley. “Chilliwack is famous for its corn, so it makes sense that this is what we should be associated with in the record book. This could be a lot of fun!”
Star Promotions Director Teresa Laynes says “the current record is 351 people shucking corn at the same time. It was set last year at Knott’s Berry Farm, and we should be able to obliterate that! We’re hoping to get up to 1,000 people here.”
This event will coincide with the first “Party in the Park” event of the summer, on Friday, July 6th at 5pm at Central Community Park in Chilliwack.
Of course, Guinness has some pretty strict rules…it IS a world record after all! No one from the station can participate in the attempt, and anyone who wants to take part must be registered. You can preregister by stopping by the Star 98.3 office between Monday and Friday from 8:30-4:30 with a piece of ID.
You could wait until July 6th, but we can only take a maximum of 1,000 so registration could be full by then. You can get more information on our website, www.starfm.com
This is a chance to take part in something HUGE…getting our great community into the Guinness Book of World Records!
We would like to thank the Chilliwack Downtown BIA, Ticket Card, Hofstedes Country Barn and Just Shoot Me Photography for supporting us with this awesome event.
