he Chilliwack Community Arts Council is pleased to announce that the Canada Day Celebration will be held on the grounds of the Chilliwack Landing this year.

After ten years of successfully producing this wonderful event at Chilliwack Heritage Park it is time that we brought it back to it’s original home, the “Old Fairgrounds” as they are affectionately known as.

The theme this year is “sports” and to that end the Arts Council is asking that any sports teams, clubs or organizations that would like to be involved contact them at 604-392-8888. All of the buildings on site including the Prospera Centre, the Leisure Centre, the Cultural Centre, Evergreen Hall, the Landing Sports Centre and the Skate Board Park are planning activities.

Games, scrimmages, demonstrations and displays will animate the fields and grounds including Townsend Park. The day will start off with a multi denominational Church service at the Grandstand followed by entertainment for young and old alike.

If you are a performer or a member of a group that would like to perform before one of the largest and best audiences in the city please give the Arts Council a call, they would love to hear from you. Bounce houses and a small children’s midway will be part of the activities as well as information and activity booths organized by many local clubs, non-profits and associations.

The evening will conclude with an exciting stage show followed by another spectacular fireworks show that the local celebration is so well known for.

Special Thanks to: Provincial Territorial Canada Day Committee and the Department of Canadian Heritage

And to: Atchelitz Thresherman's Association, the Sardis Kiwanis Club, the Chilliwack and District Agricultural Society, and the Canadian Military in assisting with the event organization.
