Press Release

Seniors Living Sustainably at The Oasis Village

Debbie Walker, President of Translucent Publicity and The Oasis, is pleased to confirm special guests in the film and television industry will be arriving for the invitation only Launch Party being held in Chilliwack on Thursday June 17, 2010

We are proud to announce that Howard Dell, a world class athlete (former Olympian, NFL/CFL), Grammy and Emmy winner for his acting chops, most notably in the "L Word", John Woo's "Once A Thief and as Detective Troy in "The Young & Restless" and spokesperson for The Oasis will be in attendance to welcome all to our "Launch Party" in just a few shorts weeks.

Dell is an all-round entertainer who recently underwent a kidney transplant last November. He will be competing in the upcoming Canadian Transplant Games in Quebec at the end of July as well as in the NKF US Transplant Games at the end of July to early August.

Dell will be sharing the spotlight, with actor Frank Cassini, whose CTV/CBS hit series, "The Bridge", has just announced it's second season. In addition the original first season has just been installed for a second airing on CTV simultaneously with CBS premieres starting July 10th. Check your local listings for further details.

                                                                                                        Frank Cassini

Cassini's role as Rabbi in the dramatic new cop series, is a supportive superior whose only concern is to calm the forces, and protect their own.

Cassini who is a client of Translucent Publicity, fully comprehends the need for seniors housing in a community forum and is happy to support this venture.

When it came time to outfit The Oasis as a demonstration home, Walker picked up the phone and started to connect with her former clients and associates. Some of whom have come to the rescue are UNiversal Supply, Artistic Bath and Swinstones Granite Shop to name a few.

We appreciate the need to purchase from our local suppliers when possible. Walker's desire to purchase and support the growing community is first and foremost.

David Reed, President of Universal Supply, knew that Walker had been working on this demonstration project for several years and stepped up to the plate with delivery received mid May.

"With Walker's tenacity and vision, we can see that in a few short years, there will be an Oasis in several more communities," said Reed. "We want to see an Oasis in every community."

Some Background on The Oasis residences

OASIS - Opportunities Allowing Seniors Independent Sustainability

Debbie Walker has created a vision for an alternative lifestyle for active seniors. Her vision incorporates the needs and wants for an improved quality of life for 55+ by developing an "active living" environment, while standard community models simply promote "assisted living".

In developing a good working understanding of the housing options for seniors, Ms. Walker identified that active living and a supportive environment provide for an improved attitude and happiness for the aging individual.

The result is a Pilot Project called "The OASIS Village", which will be built by Debbie Walker and meets these quality of life issues while delivering sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. The OASIS Village helps launch two unique programs that merge sustainable and automated home design within a unique lifestyle community living option for seniors in a sustainable agricultural setting.

The OASISVillage is an opportunity to showcase seniors and families involved in a sustainable and nurturing environment constructed to SAFERhome Standards Society requirements. This project will be a home for seniors who wish to live a healthier and more productive, independent lifestyle. This "housing model" will adapt to any changes required to address their own personal needs. As such, this program creates an alternative to the warehousing of seniors in an urban setting where their lifestyle and dignity as producing members of society are compromised.

This project can become a wonderful accessible and universal platform for the community to interact directly with government and other institutes. We will be able to deliver real and tangible solutions that the social and market housing bodies can adopt and easily implement into the ongoing development of our future communities.

It takes a village to raise a community.

The Oasis Village is the answer that can accomplish just that by addressing the needs of the individual in an aging population and communities-at-large.
