Party in the Park Returns
Downtown Business Improvement Association (BIA) brings the best Chilliwack has to offer to Party in the Park
Downtown Chilliwack – Central Community Park will host the largest Coast Capital Savings “Party in the Park” yet. Starting on Friday, July 9, 2010 (grand opening night surprises) and will run each Friday night from 5:00-10:00 until August 27th (Grand Finale to include O’Connor’s Sunset Cruisin’ in the Park car show).
Kathy Funk, Executive Director of the BIA says, “due to the overwhelming support of corporate sponsorships, we are able this year to expand all areas of this great event.”
We have added more entertainment acts to main stage and under the great leadership of Chilliwack’s own Trevor McDonald; we anticipate another awesome line up of local and guest bands of all genres. Last year the musicians generously provided two one thousand dollar scholarships to two high school students who plan to continue studies in the field of music.
Our “Family Fun Zone” has expanded with the addition of Lil’ Putters, Bakers, Gardeners’ and Crafters areas. Also, we have added a Clowning Around area and a great Activity Corner for the rambunctious young ones. Theme nights include, Pirate, Hawaiian, Western and Fairy Tale. This year we have had fourteen high school students who have had lessons in face-painting and they have volunteered to help us out.
Mandy Watts Program Coordinator for Continuing Studies UFV says, “I am excited to be hosting the Fraser Valley’s largest ‘Night Market’ at Party in the Park” this season. She says, “To date, we have over 40 vendor’s representing everything from fresh produce, arts, jewelry and some great new ethnic & Canadian food vendors.” Last year partial proceeds from the booth rentals went to Community Services “Family Place”. Mandy says “we are committed to giving back to this great downtown community”.
Bring your lawn chairs, family and friends and enjoy this free downtown community event.
