Great Blue Heron Reserve's summer program offerings

John LeFlock works closely with kids at the Great Blue Nature Heron Reserve.

 

hildren get a mix of art and environmental education. John LeFlock, our art teacher, will explore different artistic techniques, working with multiple mediums to showcase the importance of art in different fields of work.

 

For the nature portion, kids will be outside connecting to the unique habitat of the reserve, including pond life, frog habitats, and beaver programs.

 

Sunday Family Workshops
Children will be divided into 2 different age groups to enjoy artistic mentoring and the joys of playing outside with a knowledgeable environmental educator.
 

Five Classes July 9  1-2pm

Cost: $103 per adult & child

Members $98 per adult & child
Extra adult or child for 5 classes $25 – max 2 extras
 

Bring the whole family. You will have fun learning to draw and paint nature together and all materials will be supplied.

 

Sunday Adult Art Workshops

Beginners drawing & painting class featuring:

•   basic drawing & sketching in pencil & charcoal.
•   basic painting in acrylics, watercolours & pencil crayons.

Classes to include how to draw & paint, flowers, animals & birds. All materials will be supplied.

 

Five Classes July 9-16-23-30 2:30 - 4pm

Summer Wildlife Art Camp
A week-long camp where you’ll learn art techniques from our resident artist, John LeFlock.

 

Lessons will include everything from sketching to 3D art to airbrushing, and we can’t wait to share it all with you! We’ll also have fun sketching and drawing animals that we find outside as we explore the connection of art to the natural world. All materials are provided!

 

July 24-28 ages 5-10

August 14 ages 8-13

9:30am - 12:30pm

Summer Nature Explorers Camp 
Go on outdoor adventures with your fellow campers and explore the rare wetland habitat of the nature reserve. A perfect program for everyone from budding ecologists to those who just adore being outside.

 

This hands on environmental education program introduces and connects students to the natural world and participants will enjoy learning about this amazing place through environmental games, hands on science activities and outdoor explorations.
 

July 31 - August 4  ages 5-12

9:30am - 12:30pm

Cost: $100
