Staff/Voice photos

hilliwack firefighters were called out to the old courthouse at the corner of Victoria Ave. and College St. at around 1:45 a.m. Thursday.

When fire crews arrived, they found some garbage was smouldering on the ground that was up against the structure.

A night worker at Chilliwack Community Services spotted a fire on the backside and called it in.

The building which has been derelict for 12 or 13 years, has recently been targeted by metal thieves and the occasional mattress fire.
