Trethewey Blaze

Fire victim suffers serious injuries

t approximately 8:00 a.m. on Sunday July the 21st., the Chilliwack Fire Department and was dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the 45000 block of Trethewey Avenue.


When the fire crews arrived they observed fire and smoke from a single family home. The crew was alerted to the fact that someone was still in the home. Entry was made into the house and the lone occupant was removed and immediately treated on scene. The patient suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital.

20 firefighters from two fire halls were called in to fight the fire which took almost three hours to fully extinguish. The house sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.

An investigation established that the cause of the fire was accidental probably caused by cooking as the area of origin was in the kitchen.
