Arts Scene

Portraits and Other Treasures

Two shows of mixed media for art lovers starting July 21

Submitted by Mary Main, Chilliwack Visual Artists Association

here are two shows coming up for art aficionados. The first one is the Chilliwack Visual Arts Association's members showcase featuring their own work in different types of media.

The theme is "The Art of the Portrait", which will display CVAA member's styles and media, including paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, and textiles all with a common theme. The only limitation is the artist's own imagination. The diversity of talent will make for a very interesting and eclectic exhibition and one not to be missed.

Opening reception is July 21st at the Cultural Centre Gallery on Corbould St. The show runs from July 18th to August 25th Wednesdays to Saturdays from noon to 5 P.M.

Treasures of Wildlife

Photographers Fred and Delphine Gornall, of the Visual Arts Association, are presenting a selection of images of nature's less elusive creatures called "Treasures of Nature with Wildlife Exposed".

In the same exhibition, Georges Sauve will have his woodcarvings and glass work on display as part of his are "Earth & Fire Treasures of Nature".

Sauve's work highlights threatened and exotic species along with "abstract works of affection".

Together the exhibits will provide a very interesting and memorable show.

Opening reception will be Saturday July 28th to September 6th, from noon to 2 P.M. at the Chilliwack Museum Chambers Gallery located at 45820 Spadina.
