NDP Says No To Enbridge

Pipeline "bad for economy, bad for environment"

Released by Jan O'Brien BC NDP

n Monday morning, the BC Liberals announced that they set conditions that must be met in exchange for their support for the Enbridge pipeline.

Unfortunately, their "conditions" are nothing more than a smokescreen to hide the fact they're still not taking a real stand. In fact, their "conditions" seem to be focused more on improving the Liberals' political fortunes than protecting BC's interests.

For example, the BC Liberals say that addressing First Nations' issues is a condition for their approval of the pipeline project. Yet this "condition" is already a legal requirement, and has been upheld by the Supreme Court of Canada.

They say that passing an environmental review would be a condition for approval. Yet, there is already one being conducted by the federal government (after the Liberals signed away BC's right to conduct its own review) - and the Liberals missed the deadline to provide evidence that could influence its outcome.

And the BC Liberals say that a "world-leading marine oil spill response" for BC's coastline is a condition for their approval. This
is effectively abandoning the decades-old tanker moratorium for BC's north coast.

SIMPLY PUT, THE BC LIBERAL GOVERNMENT'S CONDITIONS DON'T STAND UP TO SCRUTINY.

In contrast, Adrian Dix has been clear and consistent from the beginning: the BC NDP is opposed to the Enbridge pipeline because it's bad for our environment and bad for our economy.

LET'S SHOW CHRISTY CLARK AND THE BC LIBERALS THAT BRITISH COLUMBIANS WANT PRINCIPLED LEADERSHIP ON THE ENBRIDGE QUESTION.

SIGN OUR LETTER OF OPPOSITION TO THE ENBRIDGE PIPELINE, and share this video of Adrian explaining our position in opposition to Enbridge right now and encourage more British Columbians to join the opposition to the Enbridge pipeline.
