MLA looking for
feedback on acute care closure at CGH July 31
Released by Jennifer Woodroff, LA to MLA Gwen O'Mahony
MLA Gwen O'Mahony will be moderating a panel discussion and town hall
meeting July 31 to discuss the future of the rehabilitation ward at
Chilliwack General Hospital.
With the participation of patient and community stakeholders, staff and
representatives of the Fraser Health Authority, the purpose of the meeting
is to engage the community so that Chilliwack voices are heard before any
next steps are taken.
"I'm hoping that we can have a positive and productive discussion about this
issue," said O'Mahony. "The panel members are bringing their unique
perspectives to the town hall meeting, so this is a terrific opportunity to
craft a solution to the challenges faced at Chilliwack General Hospital."
Panel members include Chilliwack and District Seniors Resource Society
president Allan Hunt, Health Sciences Association president Reid Johnson,
Fraser Valley Brain Injury Association volunteer John Simpson, Health
Employees Union secretary/business manager Bonnie Pearson, and Fraser Health
Authority director of rehabilitation services Scott Brolin.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. July 31 at the Tzeachten Community Hall
(45855 Promontory Road).
"I have heard from many constituents concerned about the closure of the
rehabilitation ward," said O'Mahony. "While this will be another opportunity
for residents to have their say, I'm most hopeful it will allow us to move
toward better services for patients at Chilliwack General Hospital."
Pre-registration is not required for the meeting, which is expected to wrap
up at 9:30 p.m.
