Robber Arrested

Quick police work gets gun-toting thief off the street

Police set up a dragnet off of Knight Rd and Topaz Dr. Wednesday in search of an armed robber.

 

t around 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday, a lone native male armed with a hand gun walked into Sunspot Eyewear on Vedder Rd, stuck a knife in the door to keep it propped open and demanded cash saying he was going to shoot.

 

When told there was no money he demanded the sunglasses instead and left the store on foot. He was last seen running toward the Canadian Oil Change.

 

Police swooped in and set up a perimeter, and with the help of a police dog caught the suspect within a half an hour behind the apartments on Topaz off Knight Rd.
 

Mounties were searching for the handgun and the suspect was taken to jail where he was attended to by paramedics for superficial dog bites to one of his hands.
