Changing summer weather patterns, deer influence lunar names

Staff/Voice photos

Catching a glimpse of the July full moon Sunday over Chilliwack. Clouds give the moon edges a serrated look.

Full Thunder Moon cast it's sallow light on Chilliwack this week. The July moon gets it's name because its a time when weather patterns mix resulting in flash and boom shows.

It's also called a Full Buck Moon because its a time when deer grow antlers covered in velvety fur. Depending on what circle you're in, it can also be called a Full Hay Moon.
