Turning Left Was Never So Right
Yale gets $800k for highway safety improvements
Submitted by Marc Wang, BC Gov't Caucus
he Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has awarded a contract worth $800,000 to Timbro Contracting to improve access to All Hallowes Road on Highway 1.
"These improvements will help decrease congestion on Highway 1 near Yale. More importantly, they'll help residents of the All Hallowes Trailer Park get to and from home safer," says Chilliwack-Hope MLA Barry Penner.
Why this matters:
Work will include widening the west side of Highway 1 to accommodate a left turn lane.
The improvements will increase safety by allowing westbound traffic to travel unimpeded by vehicles waiting to turn onto access roads.
The project will also improve access to the All Hallowes Trailer Park and Fraser River Rafting, and will make entering and exiting both facilities safer.
The project site is located on Highway 1 at All Hallowes Road, approximately 1 kilometre west of Yale.
Work has started and is expected
to be completed by September 30.
