BC Gov't chips in $5000 for Kayak Championships at Tamihi August 1-7

he B.C. Government is contributing $5,000 to support the 2011 Canadian National Whitewater Championships.


The money is coming from the Hosting BC program, and will help the City of Chilliwack play host to the best canoers and kayakers from across Canada and the U.S. as they compete for the title of Canadian Champion.

"The whitewater championship is an exciting way to profile our beautiful Tamihi Rapids; the training ground for the Canadian National Kayak Team. I'm delighted to support this funding to help our community host this world class competition," said Chilliwack-Hope MLA Barry Penner in a press release today.


"We are ideally suited to host sporting events like this. The Hosting BC program is a great way to showcase our province's natural beauty, and help us promote sport and active lifestyles across B.C.,"said Chilliwack MLA John Les in the same release.
