Harrison Lake Cessna Crash Update

Weather allows S&R access to remote crash site

Released by Chilliwack UFRD RCMP Cst Tracy Wolbeck/File photo

CMP Air 5 along with a Chilliwack Search and Rescue member were able to successfully locate the small Cessna that crashed late yesterday afternoon in the mountains of the Agassiz area. The plane is situated in a mountain valley surrounded by snow and large boulders.

"Four members of the Chilliwack Search and Rescue are on their way back up to the wreckage site to recover the two victims," said Cst. Tracy Wolbeck. "The weather is on their side and they hope to have the victims out by late evening tonight." "I was up there myself with Air 5 this afternoon and it really is such a tragedy."

Names of the victims will not be released until all next of kin notifications have been completed. The BC Coroner Service now has conduct of the investigation.
