Restoring Mother Nature
FVC looking for a few good hands to help clean-up slide debris
Submitted by Steve Clegg, FVC
e have another two days of restoration work to prepare for the heavy equipment coming in on July 18th.
If you are able to lend a hand (or two) for an hour (or more) it would help us out a lot.
Come out and enjoy a day in the sun! We
have recently acquired a property
that is in need of some ecological restoration in the Chilliwack River Valley.
A landslide in 2009 plugged Ryder Creek, caused localized flooding, and destroyed the house. We now need to clean up all the sheds, debris etc before we can re-plant and restore the property. If your interested in coming out Friday July 15th or Saturday July 16th to volunteer here are some of the things we need help with right now:
Shed demolition (*smashing and bashing*)
Invasive plant removal (*pulling and slashing*)
Garbage clean up (*Picking and sorting*)
Weed-eating (*Slicing and dicing*)
Fence removal (*Pulling and rolling*)
When: Friday July 15th 10:00am -
5:00pm, Saturday July 16th 10:00am - 6:00pm
Where: 48513 Auchenway Rd, Chilliwack River Valley.
Who: You, Me, anyone else you can bring along
What to Bring: Wear weather and work appropriate clothing, if you have steel-toed boots you might want to wear them, we may have a few extra gloves, but if you have your own you should bring them.
If your able to make it out, give me a shout via e-mail here and bring some tools if you have any.
