City looking for public input at Open House Wednesday
Released by Starlee Renton, City of Chilliwack
he City of Chilliwack and the Fraser Valley Regional Library want your feedback on the preliminary design plan for the new library, proposed for the south side of Chilliwack. On Wednesday, June 6, the City and the FVRL are hosting an open house to give residents an opportunity to view the design ask questions and give input on what works and what doesn't.
The proposal for the new library is the result of months of review of community needs and available resources, by a working group composed of Chilliwack City staff and Fraser Valley Regional Library representatives. The working group has recommended that the new library be constructed on city owned property on Tyson road, between the Twin Rinks arena and Mount Slesse Middle School.
The preliminary design has open and
flexible space with room to expand the building in the future as warranted. The
proposed 9700 square foot building will allow not only more library space, but
multipurpose community space as well. The proposed site is in a central location
and is close to walking trails and other municipal facilities.
