lympic gold medal swimmer Ryan Keuster made a triumphant return to Chilliwack City Hall on Tuesday.

Like a knight back from his crusades abroad he bore with him rare golden medallions to show-off. Mayor Sharon Gaetz along councilors applauded the young star who took the floor to talk about his winning gold medals in the backstroke and freestyle categories at the 2011 Special Olympics in Athens, Greece.

Last December, Kuester was in council chambers to accept a certificate of appreciation from the City for winning two silver and one gold medal in the pool at the 2010 Special Olympics in Ontario.

At that time, Kuester told council that he was first introduced to the sport by his Grade 12 teacher's assistant and has been immersed in swimming competitions for the last 4-years.

"I went to the Chilliwack Mall, signed up for swimming and its just been a blast for me ever since I started," he said.
