Victims Services volunteers honoured at City Hall
Cst. Tracy WolbeckChilliwack RCMP release
Tuesday July, 19, 2011, the Chilliwack Victim Services volunteers were once
again recognized for their invaluable support that they provide to victims of
crime in our community. Mayor Sharon Gaetz opened Tuesdays council meeting by
honouring the four volunteers with a Heart Felt pin thanking them for their
service to Chilliwack.
"You really have no idea the scope of what these women do until you need their services," said Cst. Tracy Wolbeck. "From going through stressful court proceedings with people to delivering next of kin notifications with us, they do it all simply because they care about people and want to help. As an organization, we are so fortunate to have these people on our side to assist and support us in our jobs."
In attendance for the award presentation were Chilliwack RCMP senior managers Superintendent Keith Robinson, Inspector Hilton Smee and Staff Sergeant Gerry Falk. " Our Victim Services employees are an invaluable asset to the Detachment, police members and the public. They are predominately volunteers, who unselfishly provide victims of crime with support and comfort," said Superintendent Keith Robinson. "They lead the victims through judicial proceedings that, are for most victims, daunting, scary and complex. They can be likened to the Florence Nightingale's of the criminal justice system."
