It's Western Theme tonight at Party in the Park
Last week at Party in the Park saw over 3500 people taking in the event.
eehaw! It's party night at Central Community Park. The city's premier summer event series continues with a great lineup including the 8-piece Kenge Kenge Kenyan roots band, 10-year-old country singer Brennan Walker, Gary Gast, Gerald Charlie, Head Over Heels, a Puppy parade and more!
This morning, Kathy Funk, BIA Exec. Dir. and local personality Trevor McDonald, were on 98.3 StarFm talking about tonight's Party in the Park at Young Rd and Victoria Ave. The following are highlights from that conversation.
We have a lot of western things tonight in the kids craft area. There's going to be a western basket draw, cookies by the AG society. There's an opportunity to milk a cow.
So were really excited about that and the Safeway and Prime Time Family Fun Zone and the City Lights Church has made a bunch of cupcakes and kids can decorate them, lots of activities and especially tonight you can dress up your dog because we're having the puppy parade.
Oly's Pet Store has lots of surprises to give out. I think it's going to be a lot of fun.
KPMG is our sponsor for tonight so we're looking forward to their staff coming out. They've got goodies for the kids.
The Chilliwack Night Market has 65 vendors, and the food, you've got to come out for the food.
Our big sponsors, Coast Capital, those beautiful people that they are, they have enabled us to put on music every Friday night in the summer as you know and look at the weather, it's just like "our" thing, 27-degrees and we can wear shorts, so that's nice.
Actually we have a little bit of a surprise at 8 o'clock tonight. I'll tell you quickly that Creative Outlet is doing a great little dance thing. As you know I have one different dance group from all over Chilliwack every week.
I have a great young guy, he's 10-years-old, his name is Brennan "The Rock" Walker, he's going to sing a little bit of old traditional country music, just him and his guitar and is the cutest thing you've ever seen except for the puppy parade.
Gerald Charlie and the Black Owl Blues Band.
My buddy Gary Gast (Senior Idol) as a 3-piece band, he's going to be doing some great 40's and 50's, beautiful old country and some great classic music.
Gerald Charlie has agreed to come in. Gerald Charlie and the Black Owl Blues Band from the Back to the Blues Gospel Music Festival.
We have White Moses and the Theory and a great dance band, Head Over Heels.
My friends Julia and Tom are actually housing some folks from Kenya who are here for the Mission Folk Festival they're called Kenge Kenge (African roots music) a 9-piece band from Africa who are absolutely fantastic, they'll be at the folk festival this Saturday doing their spotlight show, but they've agreed on their day off to come out and sell some merchandise because that's how they're making their stay here. So please come out and support these guys, they're absolutely fantastic and they're on at 8 o'clock tonight and it's our special treat to you Chilliwack because over 3500 of you are showing up every Friday
Wear your hat because we've got lots of prizes from the stage for the adults and the puppy parade. Don't forget you can further your support by purchasing a PITP tee shirt.
