More Winners With GetMor Card

Supporting small businesses downtown brings bonuses

Released by Desmond Devnich, Chilliwack BIA

n the summer of 2011, the Downtown Chilliwack Business Improvement Association (BIA) launched a new customer loyalty card called GETMOR Downtown Rewards. This free, easy to use customer loyalty card was designed to encourage residents from all sides of Chilliwack to shop, eat, live and play in the downtown business improvement area.

Kelly Johnston, chair of the BIA Marketing Committee, says, "Businesses that choose to participate in the program are promising to ensure that every time a GETMOR cardholder visits they are treated special." Roy Hopcott, owner of Banners Restaurant, noted that his staff is excited about the program and can be heard telling customers about the other offers available to them. A variety of GETMOR offers include such things as a complimentary appetizer, a free shampooing with every hair cut, percentage discounts, and so much more.

"GETMOR has quickly become one of our most effective marketing tools," says program coordinator, Desmond Devnich. "Each week our office sends an email to over one thousand cardholders with business names, locations, discounts and special offers." Natalie Verstraelen posted on the BIA Facebook page, "Just received my GETMOR rewards card. Let me tell you that I will definitely use it! Great marketing idea to bring Sardis residents like me to downtown Chilliwack."

Kathy Funk, Executive Director of the BIA, explained that the GETMOR program can change one’s shopping habits. "Often it can be very tempting to shop at big box stores instead of supporting the Chilliwack economy. Saving the extra ten or twelve per cent that many businesses offer GETMOR cardholders is persuading people to visit their Downtown merchants more often." Amber Short, manager of The Book Man, said, "The GETMOR program is a wonderful way for us to honour customers who choose to shop locally!"

Chilliwack residents are encouraged to visit the BIA website or to visit any of the 50 plus participating businesses to sign up for a GETMOR card of their own.
