Two-storey, 1100 sq. ft. structure under renovation lost to blaze

t approximately 2140 hours on Friday, February 1, 2013 the Chilliwack Fire Department responded to the report of a working structure fire in the 7400 block of Cannor Road in Chilliwack.

Upon arrival of firefighters, the 1100 square foot, circa 1950, two story wood farmhouse was fully involved. The fire had extended quickly into the second floor and engulfed the building. Firefighters had to remain outside of the building with focus on protecting nearby structures. 

There was no one living in the home at the time of the fire as the home was being prepared for major renovations. Damage to the home is severe and it is uninhabitable.   

Firefighters responded from four of the six fire halls in Chilliwack to the rural location to assist in supplying water and to help extinguish the blaze. Crews remained on scene until early in the morning to completely extinguish the fire. There were no firefighter injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by fire department officials and is not considered to be suspicious.
