Carr grad Moran to exhibit at Museum March 2 - April 11
Released by Ron Denman, Chilliwack Museum
or young Fraser Valley artist Aaron Moran, growth, land use, zoning issues and sustainability are themes that flow through his impressive sculptural pieces.
He poses questions about the loss of history when developments are imposed on the land, and the creation of new histories when these developments occur.
His art includes materials found when these changes occur. Wood rescued from the older landscapes is shaped and painted to honour the past but to also recognize that the rescued wood has found a new use and future.
Moran, a Fraser Valley resident and graduate with a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design, will exhibit his work at the museum starting with the Saturday March 2 opening. The artist will be present for the 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm opening. Exhibition hours at the museum run from 9:00 to 4:30, Monday to Friday. The show closes on April 11.
