No injuries in rollover Monday
A tow truck driver uses a shovel to knock debris from a vehicle that overturned Monday.
round 1 P.M. Monday, a vehicle turning left off First Ave. onto Prest Rd. near the railway crossing, slid off the roadway and rolled into a water-filled ditch.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth told the Voice in an e-mail Tuesday, the vehicle overturned and came to rest in about 2 feet of water, leaving one person trapped in the overturned car.
Police and first responders were on the scene within minutes.
"The driver of the vehicle was standing beside the passenger who was stuck between the door window and the bank of the ditch," said Hollingsworth.
"One of our members, along with the fire department, were able to pull the passenger out of the vehicle."
Luckily there were no injuries. A female passenger was taken by BC Ambulance paramedics to Chilliwack General Hospital to be checked out.
Hollingsworth said there was nothing criminal that took place which would have caused the accident so no traffic citations were issued.
"He just wasn't able to complete his turn," concluded Hollingsworth.
