No injuries after at least one shot was fired at Child Protection Services building

Serious Crimes investigators at Building 1 on Monday after at least one shot was fired.

 

 

n Monday afternoon, just after 1:30 P.M., Chilliwack RCMP responded en masse to Stó:lō Nation at 7201 Vedder Rd. after receiving a shots fired call at Building 1, which houses the band's Child Protection Services.

A preschool nearby was locked-down and no one was permitted to leave the Health Services building while police investigated and Air 1 was brought in to assist.

RCMP Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth told the Voice in an e-mail that no one was injured during the incident and that the Serious Crimes Unit is continuing with the investigation.

There were unconfirmed reports that at least one bullet casing was found inside the offices.

More information is expected to be released once the investigation is complete.
