elebrate International Woman's Day with an incredible evening of hoopla surrounded by 'herlarious' female comedians! I Am Woman! Hear Me Laff! takes to the Main Stage at the Cultural Centre, 8:00pm on March 8 with a lineup of super funny female talent headlined by the little spitfire Tanyalee Davis.
Bring the girlfriends, bring the men, and get a shot of comedy that will have everyone howling with laughter in a fantastic show celebrating to all that makes women special.
Davis along with her fellow comedians will have you screaming with laughter as they highlight the comical in life. Rejoice in the women around you by bringing them down to the theatre for an evening of sidesplitting entertainment that will make their cheeks hurt from smiling!
Headlining I Am Woman! Hear Me Laff! is the Ferrari of comedy Tanyalee Davis, low to the ground and kind of racy, Davis stands at 3'6" and is a comedic force to be reckoned with. What she lacks in height she makes up in tenacity. This little spitfire travels all over the globe headlining throughout the US, Canada and the UK. Known as "the little lady with a lot of BIG laughs" Davis' perception of people and how they perceive her exaggerates the humor of life's "little" tasks and routines making her an incredibly entertaining performer.
Highlighting her career so far was the opportunity to work on the teaser for Austin Powers 3: Gold Member and being featured in the movie: For The Love of Money. She has also been spotlighted on Last Comic Standing 2, Little People, Big World and has been featured on World's Smallest People on the TLC - The Learning Channel.
"A master of physical punctuation" says the Las Vegas Sun of Tanyalee Davis Emcee for the evening is the hysterical comedian Leeann Keple. Known all over Western Canada for her performances with the Laff Riot Girls, Leeann puts the 'her' in 'herlarious' and thinks laughter is the best medicine there is, and most certainly less expensive than prescription drugs. As the producers of BC's Annual Search for the Funniest New Female Stand Up, the Laff Riot Girls are the longest running independent stand-up comedy troupe in Western Canada! Keple has been featured numerous times at the Global Comedy Fest Vancouver, headlined at the Calgary Funnyfest and appeared at Edmonton's Performance Arts Comedy Festival and is sure to do this comedy troupe proud.
"My humour is like a nice glass of BC red wine, warm and inviting notes to start, occasional spiciness on the tongue, a faint aroma of tobacco and leather, with a clean finish and lingering thoughts of - did she really just say that? - that will last into the next week. Once I'm uncorked, it's hard to bottle me up, but the good news is I pair well with everything." Keple says of her slaying style of comedy.
Kicking off the show I Am Woman! Hear Me Laff! is the brilliant comedian Amy Wilding, winner of this year's Annual Laff Riot Girls Search for the Funniest New Female Stand Up in 2011! Laff Riot Girls has given aspiring and established female stand-up comedians a place in which to fine tune their skills and try out new material since it was started by local stand-up comedian Ardell Fitspatrick in 1997.
Known for the high octane comedy and audience pleasing performances, the show has evolved into a great resource for fantastic comedic talent. Wilding is sure to do this group proud and have the crowd in stitches when she takes to the main stage on March 8th.
Brilliant Vancouver comedian Christine Lippa is the featured comedian in I Am Woman! Hear Me Laff! and has been seen performing all across Canada for more than 15 years. Her style of comedy will have audience members howling in their seats as she relates the everyday situations in her hilarious, animated stand-up routine. An established actress as well, Lippa has been seen in such popular movies as
Millennium. She has also performed for radio and animation, has hosted for TV, directed, improvised and has had her own hit one woman show. Treat the women around you to an evening of laughter with this dynamite gathering of brilliant female comedians in I Am Woman! Hear Me Laff! This show will make for the perfect girls night out as the laughs stay with you long after the curtain drops.
