Submitted by Ron Angell, Walk For Memories Chair

Dorothy Kostrzewa and her husband Richard, who is the 2012 honouree, follow behind bagpipe player Evans Palmer January 29 at the start of the Walk For Memories in Chilliwack at the Landing Sports Centre.

hanks for walking, Chilliwack! To everyone who helped make the 2012 Investors Group Walk for Memories a success: You’ve helped make a difference for people in our community who are living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias.

Through our event and 23 others held around the province on Jan. 29,  we’ve raised more than $690,000 – and counting – to support the work of  the Alzheimer Society of B.C. This amount exceeds our record-breaking  totals from last year!

Funds raised help people who are impacted by the disease have the confidence and skills to maintain quality of life, and support research into the causes, more effective treatments and a cure.

Special thanks to our dedicated volunteer committee for the countless hours each of you has contributed, and to the Kostrzewa family for sharing their journey through this disease with our community.

I’d also like to thank all our local community sponsors and Investors Group.

We’ll see you in 2013! Save the date – Jan. 27, 2013! Visit
