History in the Making
Ravens Brewing Co. new drink a hit with sippers
By Aaron Dawson, RBC
Raven's Brewing Company Tasting Room in Abbotsford.
week we are releasing a new product, the Jackdaw Rye Sour. In the world of
cocktails, the Sour is one of the oldest syles going back as far as 1862. A
simple mix of spirits, citrus, and sweetener is all that is used to create
some of the worlds most iconic drinks. That is where we draw the
inspiration from when designing the latest entry in our Sour Series.
The Jackdaw Rye sour is created with the classic Whisky Sour in mind. Rye brings a dryness which combines with light citrus notes from lemon and orange peel. For those unfamiliar with sour beers, the Jackdaw is an excellent place to start. Itís a well-balanced sour beer without too much pucker and a delightful citrus aroma.
Available in the tasting room and across British Columbia now. For product samples or any questions please email here.
The inclusion of rye malt in this kettle soured beer provides a smooth and dry mouthfeel. Plus, the subtle addition of lemon and orange peel during the brew adds a citrus note to the sour character already present. Overall a pleasant and moderately tart drinking experience.
