Gas Grinches Strike the Newmark

Damaged vehicles likely targeted by fuel thieves

Emergency vehicles sit parked outside the Newmark Wednesday while police and firefighters deal with a gas spill in the underground parking.

 

ust after noon on Thursday, the Chilliwack Fire Department responded to reports of fuel leaking from a vehicle at the Newmark apartments on Victor St. and Bole Ave.

 

According to witnesses, two vehicles actually had their tanks punctured and were leaking gasoline into the parkade under the building. Firefighters cleaned it up and vented the parkade. The RCMP were on the scene and investigating.
