his photo is in dedication to the memory of Max Wolf, who on this day in 1891, pioneered astrophotography by capturing the image of 323 Brucia the first time a heavenly body that had ever been captured on film.


According to Wikipedia, the asteroid was named after a benevolent woman named Catherine Wolfe Bruce who donated $10,000 to build the telescope Wolf used. It was to become the first of over 200 asteroids he managed to take photos of over his lifetime.
