Submitted by Nicola Davies, POE

ieces of Eight vocal octet, from Chilliwack, is partnering this year with the Kwantlen Chamber Singers on Wednesday December 21, to bring you a celebration of family Christmas traditions and well-known songs and carols, all tied up with Pieces of Eight flair!

From Silent Night to musical theatre, the concert will showcase the groupís standard eclectic range of styles and dynamic staging, complemented by the Kwantlen Chamber Singers, who are bringing to the stage some of their more light-hearted pieces along with Christmas favourites. The groups will combine to present a few selections en masse.

To round out the evening, come anytime from 7:00pm for complementary apple cider and goodies from Nicolaís Cookie Shop.

Pieces of Eight recently presented their annual Summer Benefit Concert, this year raising $1500 for the Ann Davis Transition Society. The group chooses a new local charity each summer to support, and also performs at several other events throughout the year. Their 2010 Christmas concert was sold out.

Kwantlen Chamber Singers is an auditioned ensemble of mostly voice majors. They recently performed their first concert featuring a wide range of repertoire, and plan to travel to several high schools in the New Year to perform.

The concert will be held at the Cultural Centre Rotary Hall, Wednesday December 21, at 7:30pm. Tickets are available at the door, suggested donation $10. Please contact Nicola Davies for information here or see the Pieces of Eight website: www.Piecesof8octet.com.
