Officers collect food during "Stuff the Cruiser" food bank drive last year at PriceSmart Foods.

n December 12th, 2010 the RCMP will once again be asking the community to 'Stuff It' in Chilliwack and Hope at the second annual 'Stuff the Cruiser' event.

The RCMP who normally fight crime, will be volunteering their time to help fight hunger. Empty police vehicles will be on hand at four Overwaitea Foods locations that the RCMP hope to filled to the roof with food donations. Please come down and help 'Stuff the Cruiser'.

Last year the Chilliwack RCMP collected 7 pallets of food for the Salvation Army Food Bank, and over $1700.00 in cash donations. This year the Hope RCMP has joined the fight against hunger as well.

The Chilliwack and Hope RCMP will be set up from 10:00 AM, until 4:00 PM, at three Overwaitea Foods locations in Chilliwack, and at Coopers Foods in Hope.

Come down to one of these four locations and help feed those in need in your community:

RCMP members will be volunteering their time on site in both duty uniform as well as the Red Serge collecting donations. The Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services will also be there. Anyone wishing to have a photo taken with the RCMP members can bring a camera, make a food donation and have their picture taken for free.

The donations collected will go to the Salvation Arm Food Bank in Chilliwack, and the Hope Food Bank in Hope.

"Based on last years overwhelming response both food banks have made some room" said Corporal Lea-Anne Dunlop. "The Chilliwack community responded very generously to help fight hunger last holiday season and we know we will see the same response this year in both Chilliwack and Hope".

Please come down and visit the RCMP on December 12th, and give what you can to help fight hunger in your community.
