Lumber Burns

Possible Arson, CFD looks to the public for tips

n August 14, 2017 at approximately 8:00pm the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire at a lumber processing facility located in the 46000-block of 4th Avenue.


Firefighters responded from Halls 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 and upon arrival, discovered a grass fire that had spread into the yard of the facility and ignited several bundles of lumber.

Firefighters quickly established a water supply and deployed high-volume water streams to bring the fire under control. As a result of this quick and aggressive attack, fire crews were able to limit the damage to the bundles and were able to protect several other bundles of lumber in the yard as well as the buildings on the property.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.

This fire is under investigation by Chilliwack Fire Department and RCMP fire investigators.
