Take Care in the Chair
Man in wheelchair struck by vehicle
An injured man is attend to by emergency crews on Wednesday.
irst Responders and BC Ambulance paramedics were called out to Hodgins Ave. and Yale Rd. just after 9 p.m. on Wednesday when a man in a wheelchair was allegedly clipped by a car in the service station lot there on the corner.
The elderly man appeared not to be seriously injured, but medics were not taking any chances and the victim was placed on a backboard before being taken to Chilliwack General Hospital. It's not known the extent of the man's injuries or if the vehicle remained on the scene.
The chair did not appear to have reflectors on it, so it may not have been seen by the driver in the dark.
If you travel in a wheelchair, it's a good idea to install reflective safety items on it to help drivers see you at night.
