he Chilliwack Arts & Cultural Centre Society has a new Board president, a community member who, you could say, lives for the arts. Newly appointed president, Patti Lawn, is a longtime supporter and advocate of the arts and culture in the Chilliwack community.

“We are fortunate to have someone with so much experience and commitment to arts and culture in the community, someone who shares our values and fits our organization so well assume leadership of our organization,” comments past president, Dave Stephen, “Patti leads by example, devoting countless volunteer hours to the development of quality arts programming for our community. And through her professional work in our schools she has been instrumental in introducing children to arts and performance.”

She has been an active member of the Chilliwack Players' Guild since the early 1980s - as an actor, producer, director, lighting designer - and has served as a Board member and part of the Players Guild executive on numerous occasions. Lawn was also an active board member of the Chilliwack Community Arts Council.

Most recently, Patti played a key role with the Chilliwack Arts & Cultural Centre Society’s inception, leading to the opening of The Centre in September 2010. During the initial two years of the Society’s work, she oversaw the Fundraising committee; from May 2010 to June 2011 she served as Vice President. This past June she was elected President of the Arts & Cultural Centre Society, and will be guiding the Society as it oversees the second year of the Cultural Centre’s operations.
