The Good Earth

Ryder Lake cleanup April 18

By Peter Whitlock, Pres Ryder lake Farmer's Institute

pril is Pitch-In month in Chilliwack. The Farmers' Institute has participated in this every year and earns $100 towards Hall expenses. For those that are not familiar with the program, community groups are assigned a section of roadside to clean-up.

For us it is Elk View from the bottom of the hill then left at Ryder Lake Road up to the beginning of Extrom plus Ross Road. This the last Pitch as the City has discontinued the program.

We have set Saturday "Earth Day" April 18 to do our bit. We will meet at the sign and notice board at 10am. If you wish to participate by doing your own section of roadside, that works too. Let me have your bags of debris to include with our delivery to the dump and add to our total weight.

I have reflective vests and will get bags and signs from the City prior to our day. Bring warm clothes and gloves and something to drink. I will need someone to haul the trailer this year as Patrick is not able to drive.

This is a great community event and hope for a good turnout so it takes less than an hour. Maybe it won't rain this year!!

(It is useful to know how many will be there in advance)
