Ryder Lake barn fire accidental says CFD

t approximately 4:25 p.m., on April 9th, the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire located in the 5100-block of Sherlaw Rd.

 

A family member arrived home to witness light smoke coming from a barn structure on the property and quickly called 9-1-1 then safely removed 3 dogs that were within the vicinity of the barn.

 

Firefighters responded from Halls 1, 4, 5 & 6. Upon arrival, a single-storey barn structure used as a workshop, was fully involved, as well as a couple of large trees surrounding the structure.

 

Firefighters quickly went to a defensive attack and stopped the fire from damaging other buildings on-site. The barn sustained major damage and will need to be replaced.

 

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

 

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental and is still under investigation by the Chilliwack Fire Dept.
