Art UnchartedHope artists bring their best pieces to Chilliwack April 22 to May 7
By Catalina Turingan, CCAC
he Chilliwack Community Arts Council is pleased to present Artists at Work (AAW) with Hope Art Studio. Come and check out an amazing selection of quality artwork by the Hope BC Artists at the Art Room on Vedder!
The show is organized by Sharon Blythe and other artists who volunteer their time and energy to help their members show and sell their work.
It all started in 2009 when Sharon Blythe and six of her friends expressed the need for a place for inspiration in their artistic endeavors from painting, sewing, scrap booking, writing and making greeting cards. This need launched the Hope BC Artists At Work (AAW).
The interest in AAW grew with close to twenty members to date, with works in oils, acrylics, watercolors, paper and pastels. To showcase their work and for further inspiration, the group arranges bus trips to art galleries and art events located in Burnaby, Vancouver, Fort Langley, Steveston, Abbotsford. AAW was also involved in the North Vancouver “Art Crawl” and have travelled to Van Dusen Gardens to take workshops with Alan Wylie, a famous artist in North America and Europe.
With enough work to warrant a show, AAW held their first “Fine Arts Exhibit & Sale” in 2009 and has become an annual event. To bring AAW’s art to a wider audience, Ed Thomas, a member, created the Hope Art Studio website, hopeartstudio.ca. Check out their website for examples of AAW members’ creativity.
