Mononymous Chilliwack R&B singer hits the big time

Chilliwack R&B singer Kat shows off her award at Rendezvous Restaurant in March.


n March 23rd Chilliwack's very own R&B singer/songwriter Kat won a recording contract with EMI Music Canada while competing in Toronto during Canadian Music Week.


Kat won with her original song On These Streets. You can see the raw footage video of her song filmed in Vancouver here.


"Singing is not what I do, it's who I am. If I can have a positive impact no matter how small on the world we live in today then with my last breath I will sing," she says.

Kat, and her award, were welcomed home by a Red Carpet Event in her honour.  The invitation only Black Tie event, hosted by the Rendezvous Restaurant, was attended by family, friends, media and dignitaries. Chilliwack-Hope NDP Candidate Gwen OíMahony attended and the City of Chilliwack was represented by Sue Attrill.

Kat has had tremendous success this year. She won a spot in the Metropolis Glee Club, was mentored by Canadian Icon Jann Arden, was a finalist in Valley Voices & performed live on ET Canada. Katís voice coach is Darcy D (former member of the Canadian Juno Award Winning band Prism).
